I am back again with another issue of Plumeria leaves. It was raining for 7 days ( Not continuously, but it was raining like the rainy season). I noticed the brown spots on my Plumeria leaves, as you can see in the above picture.
I will first tell what I noticed, and then I will talk about the solution or treatment. I have treated these brown spots, and it really worked for me.
The brown spots are not on a single leaf. The spots were spreading so fast that I could not notice before they attacked more than 10 leaves. (Actually, I have a lot of plants, so it's difficult for me to keep an eye on all the plants )
The brown spots can turn black and make holes in plumeria leaves. The spots are like dots on the leaves. Not all the dots are in circular form.
Update: I wrote this article back in 2024, and till now, I have witnessed many different types of brown spots. And today, I am adding a few more pictures of the brown spots of Plumeria leaves, explaining the causes and treatment.
What causes brown spots on Plumeria leaves?
You might be thinking that these are due to rust fungus, and these are rust on Plumeria. Don't get confused with rust. Rust is a different disease, and if you want to check what rust-infected leaves look like on Plumeria, you can check this: Get rid of Plumeria Rust. (In that case, you can use water and hydrogen peroxide mix and spray it on the infected leaves.)
Brown spots just before dormancy

If you notice any leaf like this below, then it might indicate your Plumeria plant is going towards dormancy, and you should check my winter care guidelines for Plumeria.

There, you will also see the rust-infected leaves picture and you can follow the treatment.
Brown spots on Plumeria leaves due to heavy rain in summer
After rain, if the leaves get heavy direct sunlight and warm temperatures, these brown spots occur.
The major reason is sudden temperature change and humidity changes.
The brown spots can turn black if untreated. You can check the image below:

I leave my plant untreated, as I am from a warmer region, and the new leaves are gonna be fine. These spots do not affect my plant's overall health.
If you are concerned about the fact that this is going to look ugly, then spray any kind of fungicide. Most of the fungicides will be helpful.
Brown patches on Plumeria leaves
I witnessed brown patches on my Plumeria leaves due to heavy rain. The patches look like this:

In summer, if your plumeria meets rain, sudden humidity will increase. Yes, Plumeria is a tropical plant. But that does not mean it can handle everything.
These types of brown spots or patches usually occur when your Plumeria plant is surrounded by other plants heavily or planted in a congested area.
The best thing you can do is make space for good airflow. If you see the spots turning black and soft, it is due to overwatering.

Brown spots due to anthracnose

This is anthracnose. Cut those leaves off and dispose of them in the trash, don’t compost them. You can treat with BioAdvanced 3in 1, either granules or spray. I just cut them off and don’t worry about it too much.
How to fix brown spots on Plumeria Leaves?
If there is no sign of Leaves Yellowing, then no need to worry much about this problem.
No need to cut off the infected leaves, as these are not as harmful as you think. It will be automatically fixed before the blooming season.
- Just stop using fertilizer for a month (if you are applying any).
- Water only twice in a week.
- If it's possible then keep the plant under shade in the daytime when the sun is shining at its peak. (For a few days)
The top side of the leaves will look like this:

When winter is approaching, you can notice more brown spots. It's better to check the winter care guide for plumeria.
