The most asked question I have received from Zone 9 gardeners is "When should I plant this in Zone 9?". We gardeners often collect seeds or bulbs of different vegetables, flowering plants, herbs, etc. Each plant has its own ideal planting time. In this article, you will find the Zone 9 planting schedule in the form of beautiful and informative charts.
Master your Zone 9 garden with the most accurate planting schedule - these planting charts are going to be your secret to filling your garden all year round.
I started writing Zone 9 gardening in November and at the beginning of each new month, I brought a new chart for that specific month.
I always wanted to give my readers everything on a single page to save their time. This made me create this planting schedule.
Note: I have considered mostly those plants that can be grown easily in Zone 9. I know Zone 9 is not a small region and Zone 9 in Florida is not the exact same as Zone 9 in California.
I am separating the charts into the following categories:
- Leafy Greens Planting Schedule
- Vegetables and Roots Planting Schedule
- Flowering Plants Planting Schedule
- Herbs Planting Schedule
- Fruit Trees and Berries Planting Schedule

Have you noticed that in my above charts, I have mentioned the plants can be planted in February, March, April, September, and October?
I skipped January planting and a few other months. The reason is simple, I planned the planting schedule in such a way, that your garden will be covered for the whole year.
I have only mentioned the best planting times.
It's not that you can't plant them outside the date ranges I've provided.
Sometimes, we forget to plant at the ideal planting time, in those cases you can follow this possible planting chart.
