If you search for the solution you will find a lot. There are multiple ways to get rid of mealybugs. I tried almost every method. Nothing works for a long time. If you apply soap water, it will work for a few days then again you will see mealybugs. In this article, I will let you know what I did to remove mealybugs from my Croton plant.

We’ve had a Very Wet Summer and it’s happening to a lot of people. Spray off as much as possible with your hose. If you use Neem Oil be sure to coat the top and bottom of every surface. I would suggest pruning to increase airflow and halt any irrigation until the rainy season is over.

The most effective way to remove mealybugs from croton leaves is by wiping them off with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.

I know it's a bit time-consuming if your plant is large and bushy. But you can give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

If you ignore the mealybugs it will spread in your whole garden and destroy other plants.

Sometimes it's so annoying that it comes back again and again that I had to cut those infected branches out. Put in a tied trash bag to keep it from infecting other plants.

They will come back, so no worries! I just had to cut one of mine.

There are temporary solutions:

  1. Use neem oil.
  2. Spray soap and water daily for a week.

I tried all these but they come back again.

One of my friends tried a diluted mix of Dawn and white vinegar and that worked for him. You can give it a try to get rid of mealybugs from your croton plant.

That’s non flowering so you should be good to use a systemic without hurting the pollinators unless you want to spend hours wiping it away. I’d use Captain Jacks.

Make sure that you have mealybugs on your plant and that it's not croton scale. Both are different.
