I have witnessed Mealybugs on a lot of plants, especially in places where the humidity is higher. But I do not discuss all of those in my articles, as most gardeners know the common solutions for Mealybugs ( Rubbing alcohol and using neem oil). But a month ago, I noticed Mealybugs on my Fan Palm and you won't believe that none of the methods works for this particular plant. In this article, I will suggest the best possible way to get rid of Mealybugs on your Palm plant.
What to do when you see Mealybugs on your Palm plant?
First, you need to look carefully if the white-colored substances are actually Mealybugs or not. There are a few things that might look like mealybugs but aren't. A lot of people make this mistake. The treatment might be different for different pests and diseases.
If you have already applied alcohol and neem oil and still they are not going, I can guarantee they are not Mealybugs.
Wooly Aphids, Scale Insects, and Fungal Growth like Powdery Mildew are pretty much similar to mealybugs. So the best you can do is to apply the treatment of those one by one.
I suggest you take a picture of the white substance clearly and send it to us through the contact button on our webpage. Though you can not upload a picture here, just contact us and give your email ID. We will contact you and then you can send a picture of your infected plant. You will get a response within 24 hours and it's Free!
Solutions in just a few lines:
At first, try the organic thing, Neem Oil. Mix neem oil with soap water, then spray on the whole plant. Do not forget the ground.
If that does not work for you, you can take an earbud and soak alcohol on the tip of it. Apply on all the infected areas.
Now the final step that will kill all the pests at once:
Spray Insecticidal Soap directly on the pests to suffocate and kill them. Repeat every few days for a few weeks.
