Bird Of Paradise Wilting Leaves - Causes and fixing

Bird Of Paradise Wilting Leaves

Hello, I noticed the leaves of my bird of paradise are wilting. I know the reason so I could fix the plant easily. I know droopy leaves make us worried.

I thought it would be good to share the solution with other gardeners as well.

What did I notice?

So unfortunately, I neglected my birds of paradise at the beginning of the summer, because I had a newborn baby. I put her in our non-air-conditioned garage to keep her out of a bad storm and accidentally left her there for two hot days. Now her leaves are more wilted.

What should you do if your bird of paradise leaves are wilting?

First off, don’t feel too bad—sometimes life gets in the way, and plants are pretty resilient! I am here to guide you on what to do.

These plants go through worse in the wild and survive just fine. Water and spritzing and a few days of shady without sun bearing down on it for more than about 3 hours. If you do so, it will recover within 3 to 5 days.

If you are not seeing any results you can consider a bigger, larger, Pot, might be appreciated...They appreciate room to grow roots.

Soak your potted Strelitzia,(Bird of Paradise), in a bigger pot to thoroughly saturate the rootball, say, an hour or so. Drain (don’t forget !) and put it in the shade, for your stressed Strelitzia to recuperate.

Note: Mine grows outside in the ground. I only water it 4 x a year.

If your bird of paradise plant went through overwatering then do not water it for the next 15 days and place your plant in a place where it can get 5 hours of direct sunlight in a day. (If possible)

It took my plant 4 days to recover fully.

Good luck. If you need any further clarification do let me know in the comment section.
